Rep. Burlison Praises Launch of Trump Administration’s Nuclear Reactor Pilot Program

August 13, 2025

WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Eric Burlison (R-MO-07) today applauded the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) launch of President Trump’s Nuclear Reactor Pilot Program, which will fast-track deployment of advanced nuclear technologies and strengthen America’s energy leadership.

DOE announced it will work with 11 advanced reactor projects — including innovators Radiant Energy and Valar Atomics, which Chairman Burlison visited last month in Los Angeles — with the goal of constructing, operating, and achieving criticality of at least three test reactors by July 4, 2026.

“President Trump’s Nuclear Reactor Pilot Program is exactly the kind of bold action we need to cut through the bureaucratic gridlock and unleash America’s energy potential,” said Chairman Burlison. “By removing barriers and accelerating deployment, we can make the United States the global leader in advanced nuclear power and ensure that hardworking Americans have access to affordable, reliable energy for generations to come.”

The program stems from President Trump’s Executive Order 14301, announced in June, which reforms reactor testing and streamlines DOE authorization. The selected companies will design, build, and operate their test reactors with DOE authorization outside of the national labs, paving the way for faster commercial licensing.

The list of selected companies includes:

  • Aalo Atomics Inc.
  • Antares Nuclear Inc.
  • Atomic Alchemy Inc.
  • Deep Fission Inc.
  • Last Energy Inc.
  • Oklo Inc.
  • Natura Resources LLC
  • Radiant Energy Inc.
  • Terrestrial Energy Inc.
  • Valar Atomics Inc.
